If you've ever wondered why there has never been a Coachella-esqu festival on the East Coast, dwell no more. This summer, July 28th - 29th, the first ever Catalpa Festival is coming to Randalls Island in NYC featuring a line-up composed of artists from a range of musical genres i.e., Electronic, Reggae, Rock and Indie to name a few. According to their site,
"Catalpa Festival is striving to be a pioneering New York festival, unique in its programming, atmosphere and aesthetic. With as much an emphasis on site artistry, interactive experiences and experimentation as the musical entertainment itself, Catalpa is filling what we see as a gap for an event quite beyond the ordinary in New York City. "
The Black Keys, Snoop Dogg, Girl Talk, Matisyahu, AraabMUZIK, Felix Da Housecat, Alex English, as well as a completely separate Reggae Stage procured by High Times Magazine, a silent disco tent, marriage chapel and an arcadia spectacular will all be part of Catalpa.
