Summer 2012 Wishlist

After surfing the internet for hours one rainy afternoon, we stumbled across this amazing Los Angeles based company that makes the cutest, most original cut off denim shorts we have seen yet.  We bet that almost every fashionista out there has attempted to design a pair of retro shorts from old jeans, only to cut one pant leg too short or realize the denim wont fray right.  Fear no more, Runwaydreamz have come to your rescue.  Although a little on the pricey side, these shorts are totally worth it - you'll be able to stand out from the crowd of girls wearing identical outfits from Forever21 at your next music festival/pool party. Check them out at http://www.runwaydreamz.com/ .

Ferry Corsten - Live Forever (Michael Woods Remix) [Preview]

When a progressive house DJ tries to make their mark on an already perfect trance production, we start to cringe before we even press play.  Trance music is so deep and complex that putting a progressive spin on it usually cheapens the track instantly.  Fortunately, Michael Woods has impressed us here at electrolette with his remix of Ferry Corsten and Aruna's "Live Forever.  His mix premiered on Corsten's Countdown 252 last week and will be released on Flashover Recordings soon; no official release date has been announced.

Luciano's Pool Party Playlist Must Haves

Although these mixes are not fresh off the CDJ's, they are perfect for any pool party / BBQ.  If you are one of the few people out there who doesn't have a friend that claims they're a DJ, you better download these tracks and add them to the top of your playlist ASAP.  Luciano is an extremely influential player in the the world of minimal techno and tech house, owning his own label, Cadenza Records.  Chilean at heart but based out of Switzerland, Luciano is able to blend aspects of two seemingly opposite cultures into musical masterpieces.  Incorporating deep groovy vibes into well known pop songs, "Toxic" by Britney Spears and "Never Leave You" by Lumidee, Luciano portrays his creative ability to captivate a variety of audiences.

Mesmerize Me

We've all been there.. at the nail salon struggling to pick out a color while the manicurist stares at you watching your every move, not so patiently waiting for you, so you end up picking out a hideous color you never wanted.  For your next trip, let us help you to make sure this doesn't occur.  Mesmerize by Essie is a must wear nail color for this summer.  Its electric blue is so unique and eye catching we cant help but be obsessed with it.

Andain - Much Too Much (Mike Shiver Remix) [Release]

Andain of Tiesto's Black Hole Recordings has been known to produce trance tracks which are darker than the average, incorporating moving lyrics which capture listeners from the beginning.  Josh Gabriel, also part of the well known Gabriel & Dresden, is Andain's producer and Mavie Marcos is woman behind all their powerful lyrics (she can also be heard in "Beautiful Things", "Summer Calling" and "Promises").    Mike Shiver, who's productions are often heard on Anjunabeats and Armada Music, gave "Much Too Much" a harder club feel while still beautifully preserving it's original emotion.

Kaskade Live at Coachella

There's not much we can really write in this post that will do Kaskade's Coachella set justice, so instead we're just going to STRONGLY suggest you take a listen.  Whether you're commuting home from work or on your way to take a final that you're definitely not prepared for, don't stress we've all been there, this set will immediately calm your frayed nerves.  What's even more impressing is that ninety-five percent of the tracks included in this set are his own; major meltage.

p.s. we decided to include Kaskade's "Freaks of Nature" tour promo video for those of you who were fortunate enough to score some tickets.  The tour kicks off on May 26 at the Cosmopolitan Ballroom in Vegas.

Quintino Miami WMC Aftermovie

Today Quintino released his WMC Aftermovie.  Set to none other then his breakthrough track, "Epic", Quintino gives us regular people a three minute glimpse of what its like to be a 21st century rockstar.
Warning: After watching the video below you will most likely experience symptoms linked to a  condition we like to call the "Fear Of Missing Out" better known as FOMO, i.e. cold sweats, absence from social media sites, short temper when friends discuss what an epic night you missed etc.

Coachella Fashionista: Vanessa Hudgens

Fashion at Coachella music festival can be a very eclectic blend of styles, ranging anywhere from boho chic and dirty hippy to rainbow ravers.  Finding the perfect blend between these three is a task that would be the ultimate outfit but seems impossible to achieve.  After extensive perusing of the various Coachella galleries, we found the queen of Coachella couture.  Vanessa Hudgens manages to pull this look off perfectly in her hipster-chic-rave attire and we LOVE it.

Summer of Fringe

Bound to be one of the hottest lines out this summer is L*Space by Monica Wise.  We're absolutely in love with her unique fringe bathing suits and one of a kind boho style.  Our fav is the fringe monokini, which is perfect for summer days at the beach or disco pool parties.  What we love the most about this one-peice is its versatility.  Coming in funky colors such as bright turquoise, neon orange and yellow we cant help but notice that this bathing suit screams to be worn at a festival.  Throw on a pair of shorts and you're essential concert satchel with this edgy one-piece and you're ready to rage.

Andrew Bayer - Keep Your Secrets [Release]

If there's one label we love, its Anjunabeats - aside from being Above & Beyond's official label, Anjunabeats' sub label Anjunadeep was created in 2005 in order to showcase releases and artists which don't fit the typical "trance" category. According to DJ Magazine, Anjunadeep is Above & Beyond's melodic house imprint. "Get up close to the speaker and you'll hear that Anjunadeep is working on a sound all of its own", and we couldn't' agree more.

Andrew Bayer, one of Anjunabeats' main artists teamed up with Molly Bancroft, the vocalists behind Gabriel & Dresden's "Tracking Treasure Down", to produce the powerful track "Keep Your Secrets".  Chosen as record of the week during Above & Beyond's weekly radio show Trance Around the World on March 30th, "Keep Your Secrets" Original Mix, in addition to Myon & Shane 54's Summer of Love mix and Beckwith's remix are now available on Beatport.

Bayer's original mix includes a breakdown which is sure to pull at your heart strings with lyrics, "When you love someone like I loved you I don't understand the way we are today, and I will never find you on my mind again I'm giving up on you...I don't know".  I'm sure we've all experienced heartbreak ladies, but if you're looking for a more upbeat version to get you and your girls ready for a long night of partying be sure to check out Myon & Shane 54's mix which includes a more upbeat, big room feel.

EDM's Hottest DJ's

Most times when we go to a show, we really have no idea what the man behind all that magic looks like.  Between the flashing lights, CO2 showers, confetti, huge head of the obnoxiously tall person in front of us and foggy sunglasses, all we can really focus on is what we're there for; the music.  In a sense, DJ's have the best of both worlds.  They have a tremendous fan base but also have the luxury of remaining unnoticed while sitting in an airplane terminal.  We decided to put an end to all that anonymity by putting the spotlight on in our opinion, the five best looking DJ's.

1.  Ryan Marciano: One part of the high energy duo, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, Marciano is the definition of eye candy.  We can't figure out if it's the long hair, tanned complection, soulful sets or a combination of the three.  All we know is that every time they're in town, we consider it a "Do Not Miss" event.

2.  Kaskade: Ryan Raddon, better known as Kaskade, is an American DJ/Producer who melts our hearts with his melodic beats paired with soothing melodies.  Angel On My Shoulder, Eyes, Raining and Don't Stop Dancing have definitely been on the top of some of our playlists throughout the past year. Last summer, Kaskade was the de facto ambassador of the U.S.'s first EDM tour, Identity Festival, and in June he kicks off his Freaks of Nature tour.  Damn, we hope our future husbands look like this when they're 41.

3.  Menno De Jong:  Standing at 6'8", Menno De Jong is a giant sized music god, and who can complain about an extra tall guy? More height equals higher heels for us at electrolette.  As one of the biggest names in trance music and the owner of Dutch independent Intuition Recordings, we can't help but drool over this super successful artist.

4.  Tristan Garner: Two words: French Accent.  Do we need to go any further?  Following in the footsteps of Daft Punk and Cassius, Garner is the fresh, sexy face of French house music.  His 2010 track "Fuckin Down" remains a staple of many house and progressive house sets, and we are continually treated with the sounds of Tristan Garner during his Xtra Life podcasts. Attention New Yorkers: Tristan Garner will be at Santo's Party House on May 5th.

5.  Ferry Corsten: Aside from being a trance legend, Ferry Corsten is an unbelievably nice guy and total babe.  There is nothing that covers our bodies in goosebumps like a euphoric trance song, and Corsten's discography is filled with them.  From his 2006 hit, "Beautiful" to "Not Coming Down" on his 2012 album, Corsten's shows are a sure guarantee to be emotional and enlightening.

Pop of Neon

What is every festival go-er bound to see when attending their favorite DJs show? ABUNDANT amounts of neon.  However, the line seems to be blurring on when and where neon is appropriate to be worn.  Making its debut in the fashion scene, neon is the go to accent to make an everyday outfit stand out amongst the crowd.  Unlike at a festival where one can overdose on neon and still look awesome, for everyday neon wear, limit the amount to a small pop.  Ravers rejoice, neon is definitely a trend that is here to stay.
