Electric Zoo 2012 Official After Parties

It's about that time again. Festival buzz has become more apparent and although this is not Ibiza, Electric Zoo's Labor Day weekend time slot makes us think of it as the unofficial closing party of the summer.  Buying a three day pass to any festival is the easy part. For twelve hours each day you can wander from stage to stage without any real commitment, giving you the ability to experiment, listening to new artists with the freedom of leaving for a better tent as soon as you're bored. Things start to get hectic once you have to decide just where to devote the remaining seven hours of your precious pre-disco nap time, making sure it is the absolute best option. This year, Made Event has presented us with six official afterparties: three at Roseland Ballroom and three at the Best Buy Theater, each running from 11 pm - 4 am. So far, only two out of the six parties have released lineups, i.e. Markus Schulz & KhoMha at Best Buy on Saturday September 1st and John O'Callaghan and Aly & Fila at Best Buy on Sunday September 2nd. Stay tuned for updates regarding the other four parties - and don't forget, Monday September 3rd is a federal holiday so there's no reason to stop the party early!

Picks For Peace®

One afternoon while indulging in some rays and margs on the rooftop of XVI, surprisingly, something other than drinks and music caught our attention..  A table set up with numerous neon colored bracelets beckoned us over.  After seeing how unique and individualized each bracelet was and being slightly tipsy/armed with our credit card, we knew we had to buy one. Upon finding out the story behind why Mariel and Sofia Mizrahi created Picks For Peace®, we were officially obsessed. When their father, a musician and guitar player passed away from cancer, the girls created the line to remember him and share his beliefs with the world.

"He provided us with the idea that we have choices and ultimately we are all striving for Peace within ourselves and the world around us. Combining the words Pick (used for playing a guitar, but also representing choice) and Peace (which we yearned for in light of losing him), Picks For Peace® was born."

A portion of profits from the pieces are donated to the Head and Neck Cancer Alliance.  The girls tagline on Twitter is "Music is the weapon of the future" obviously thats a saying we strongly support.

3 Reasons to Attend Eric Prydz @ Beekman Beach Club

1) Prydz has a SEVERE fear of flying.  In 2008 he had a panic attack at the airport and forced his promoters to cancel his world tour.  This tour is the first time he has flown since then and it may be one of the only times us US residents get the chance to hear him live.

Now Trending: Dreamcatcher Jewelry

This is why we love fashion; Any rando item can be attached to jewelry and become popular.  Miscellaneous items from skulls, to pistols, to even owls, have been making their breakthrough jewelry debut.  The dreamcatcher is by far our favorite item to adorn our necks and wrists with.  Its major boho vibe makes us feel like a fashionista hippy.   Make sure not to pair dreamcatcher jewelry with clothes that have many intricate patterns, because this look can easily go from chic hippy, to fell-into-a-flea-market hobo.

As if Tiesto wasn't taking over the world enough by being the godfather of EDM, he has decided to branch out into another world;  A world that Electrolettes are very familiar with.  Tiesto has just announced that he will be making a collabo with insert djs name here GUESS clothing to produce a limited edition collection.  The first pieces in his line are set to be realeased in August 2012.  However, this is not T's first venture in fashion, he has previously released a club inspired line of clothing aptly named CLVB LIFE.  So along with producing a weekly Club Life podcast, touring the world and being a dutch womanizer, Tiesto can now add veteran fashion designer to his extensive list of talents.

Mint: THE Color of Summer

We've all heard the phrase "_____ is the new black".  Since the EDM revolution has begun, worn by itself, black is definitely a boring color.  Throughout the past few seasons, we've seen the over-usage of orange, pink and even animal print.  This summer we needed a color to wear thats refreshing and unique; aka has yet to be seen in every outfit on girls fbook muploads.  Thank the fashion gods for the revival of the color mint.  It's close enough to Tiffany turquoise to catch our attention but further enough away to not make us look like a walking Tiff&Co bag.  Worn as clothing or as an accessory, mint makes any outfit look that much better.

Make any t-shirt into a fab workout shirt by following the instructions and picture guide below:

1) Cut t-shirt to match picture 2
2) Use excess fabric strip from bottom of t-shirt to wrap around straps on the back then tie straps in a knot
3) Work out in cute fitting tank instead of oversized frock

ROMEiNG PANDA: Gummy Bear Couture

Having trouble deciding what accessories to wear to your next concert?
Why not wear some candy with your kandi.  Jerome Solomons faux edible
jewelry line, ROMEiNG PANDA, has been popping up everywhere in the
media and we can definitely see why. Katy Perry has been spotted
rocking the four finger gummy ring on multiple occasions, his square
bear bracelets were worn in the Victoria’s Secret fashion show and
they were recently featured on Fab.com.  Our favorite from the RP line
is the red singular gummy necklace as shown above. Its playful design
screams “eat me” in the most couture of ways.  Whether you’re wearing
these gummies to add flavor to a bland outfit or to rage at a
festival, one things for sure, this line is a sweet-toothed fashionistas dream.

Festival Kandi Guide

http://lolwtfcindy.tumblr.com/
Kandi, the essential item that ties fashion and EDM together.   These little circles of PLUR are traded with a handshake that represents everything a festival is about; peace, love, unity and respect. When experiencing the music as a crowd, you cant help but feel a sense of togetherness. Exchanging kandi is a way to signify and represent that feeling.  One of the best parts of trading kandi is the surprise of which bracelet you're going to receive.   Anything that can be physically attached to a bracelet has been. The more unique and original the kandi, the more exciting it is.  The trade starts with you and another holding your fingers together in a peace sign, followed by cupping your hands together to form a heart, entwining your fingers with one anothers and then the actual trade (Peace, Love, Unity, Respect).  Forget Pogs, Spice Girl cards or Silly Bandz because trading kandi is more than just exchanging an item, it's about embracing music's culture.
