New News Monday

edmnyc.com
Hello Monday! We hope everyone had a great weekend, although the weather was less than desirable. Below are some of the most notable "news" stories to grace the New York City dance music community.  Enjoy!

This morning, Above and Beyond posted a photo on their Facebook page insinuating that they will be hosting a New York show in February 2013.  Seems like all the hard work New York TranceFamily has put into campaigning and social media is beginning to pay off.  Congrats!

For all of you Sci+Tec loving New Yorkers who also feel completely jipped after Dubfire's set at System Nightclub in Long Island City was aprehended by the police, (a mere fifteen minutes into his set), keep your eyes peeled for the release of his new mix CD, A Transmission, on December 14th (digitally on Christmas Eve).

Danny Tenaglia has always been known to freely voice his opinions, both good and bad, which can usually be found on his Facebook page. Last night he posted the status in the picture above after DJing at Aura, a club on Long Island letting us know that "TECHNO is here to stay".  If you were present for Danny Tenaglia and Chris Liebing at Pacha last month and like what you heard or just love relentless drums, make your way over to Glazz Nightclub in Queens this Friday, December 14thTickets

Event of the Week: On Thursday, December 13th at Mehanata Bar in the LES, Caine Novak will be hosting a gritty underground party along with techno and minimal DJ's, Duckhunter, Boji and Alexia.  According to Resident Advisor, for his set this week Novak will be "playing a live set constructed from the soundtrack of "Seventeen Moments of Spring" a Russian 70's cult film noir miniseries based on a spy novel set in 1994 Berlin.  The Portishead-like sound of this score coupled with his carefully constructed custom loops and bass lines will blow your mind". If you're tired of the same old "Thursday Regulars" crowd at every other club in Manhattan like we are you should definitely make it to this refreshingly original and creative event. Tickets

Andy Warhol for NARS

http://www.sephora.com/nars-andy-warhol-collection?om_mmc=aff-linkshare-redirect-sCrAKfDMAfQ
NARS has released a special edition collection, the Andy Warhol set.  Being huge fans of Warhol we knew we had to check out what this line has to offer.  Flower shaped eye shadow pallets and mini lipglosses that come in a chic NARS version of the famous Campbells Soup Can are just a few of the items that make up this artsy collection. If you're one of our readers that tends to get FOMO we recommend getting your AW items ASAP because its only a matter of time before the collection sells out.  Before you shop the collection, we'll leave you with a famous Warhol quote,

"I had a lot of dates but I decided to stay home and dye my eyebrows."

Maybe NARS should have thought to create a Warhol eyebrow pencil.

Nervo - You're Gonna Love Again (Extended Mix) [Release]

vertigoshtick.com
Although we like our beats dirty, sometimes it's nice to bask in a fresh progressive track. The Nervo twins  and their multi-faceted talents (songwriters/producers/DJ's/models) definitely qualify them as electrolette material.  Their new song, "You're Gonna Love Again" is the product of a collaboration with Avicii, meaning this track already has big hit written all over it.  Whether you're laying by the pool, pregaming for happy hour at Djais or sitting in the airport waiting for your flight to Vegas, "You're Gonna Love Again" is guaranteed to fuel your summer lovin' mantra.

Dada Life - Kick Out The Epic Motherfucker Official Video

thedankles.com
Dada Life have finally released an official music video for the vocal edit of their 2011 hit,
"Kick Out The Epic Motherfucker".  After receiving much play time from progressive and electro artists across the board, ravers automatically pick up the speed of their eclectic dance moves once they hear the bold beginning chords of this track.  The music video encapsulates the Swedish Duo in all their crazyness; destroying fax machines, guitars, cakes and fine china.

Andain - Much Too Much (Mike Shiver Remix) [Release]

Andain of Tiesto's Black Hole Recordings has been known to produce trance tracks which are darker than the average, incorporating moving lyrics which capture listeners from the beginning.  Josh Gabriel, also part of the well known Gabriel & Dresden, is Andain's producer and Mavie Marcos is woman behind all their powerful lyrics (she can also be heard in "Beautiful Things", "Summer Calling" and "Promises").    Mike Shiver, who's productions are often heard on Anjunabeats and Armada Music, gave "Much Too Much" a harder club feel while still beautifully preserving it's original emotion.

Quintino Miami WMC Aftermovie

Today Quintino released his WMC Aftermovie.  Set to none other then his breakthrough track, "Epic", Quintino gives us regular people a three minute glimpse of what its like to be a 21st century rockstar.
Warning: After watching the video below you will most likely experience symptoms linked to a  condition we like to call the "Fear Of Missing Out" better known as FOMO, i.e. cold sweats, absence from social media sites, short temper when friends discuss what an epic night you missed etc.

Andrew Bayer - Keep Your Secrets [Release]

If there's one label we love, its Anjunabeats - aside from being Above & Beyond's official label, Anjunabeats' sub label Anjunadeep was created in 2005 in order to showcase releases and artists which don't fit the typical "trance" category. According to DJ Magazine, Anjunadeep is Above & Beyond's melodic house imprint. "Get up close to the speaker and you'll hear that Anjunadeep is working on a sound all of its own", and we couldn't' agree more.

Andrew Bayer, one of Anjunabeats' main artists teamed up with Molly Bancroft, the vocalists behind Gabriel & Dresden's "Tracking Treasure Down", to produce the powerful track "Keep Your Secrets".  Chosen as record of the week during Above & Beyond's weekly radio show Trance Around the World on March 30th, "Keep Your Secrets" Original Mix, in addition to Myon & Shane 54's Summer of Love mix and Beckwith's remix are now available on Beatport.

Bayer's original mix includes a breakdown which is sure to pull at your heart strings with lyrics, "When you love someone like I loved you I don't understand the way we are today, and I will never find you on my mind again I'm giving up on you...I don't know".  I'm sure we've all experienced heartbreak ladies, but if you're looking for a more upbeat version to get you and your girls ready for a long night of partying be sure to check out Myon & Shane 54's mix which includes a more upbeat, big room feel.
